Kassia Conway, or Conway to be exact, first hit our ears weeks ago with her debut Alt-Punk-Pop (we’ll let you decide) four-track EP ‘Big Talk’. Born in St. Louis, being in a New York band called All Wrong And The Plans Change – which appears to be the case – and then moving to LA and developing her solo career as Conway. Whatever she’s doing, it’s working. She’s already supported Ellie Goulding on tour, played Madison Square Gardens and even the Natural History Museum!
She’s been compared to the likes of Bjork and MIA, and we even sense some Gwen Stefani. Her confidence and stage presence could even be likened to that of P!NK, but Conway is Conway and we love what she’s doing. “A sayer of things that are on her mind and stuck in her side. She wants to tell you what she sees and how she sees it. She hopes you talk back”. Listen below:
We caught Conway at 2 of her 3 night London appearances. The first was at Birthdays, London with none other than our most-talked about artist, Salt Ashes. We then arrived the following night at Madame JoJo’s where she supported Broods, and what a show that was! Ending with the crowd-pleasing ‘Shut Up’ featuring lyrics such as ‘Shut up, Shut up’ and ‘Thank you very much, thank you very much’, Conway is definitely a fierce new emerging act you’ll want to watch out for.
